High Mountain Meats was born from founder Carter Wilford's journeys between Utah and North Dakota, where he witnessed the challenges facing traditional ranches across the American West. Driven by a passion for conservation and preserving the ranching lifestyle, Carter set out to find exceptional meat producers who maintained the highest standards while honoring time-tested methods.

Together with co-founder Eric, a lifelong outdoorsman and fly fishing enthusiast with a background in conservation biology, they built relationships with select ranchers who shared their vision for quality and sustainability. Their complementary skills created the perfect foundation for a company dedicated to bringing premium meats directly from ranch to table.

The team expanded when Carter's sister Kara joined the venture, bringing her expertise in connecting with families who value quality nutrition and authentic experiences.
